Tzedakah - Charity Boxes
Tzedakah is the Hebrew word for charity even though the word is based on a root meaning justice (tzedek). In Judaism, tzedakah refers to the religious obligation to perform charity, and philanthropic acts, which Judaism emphasises as important parts of living a spiritual life. As a religious obligation, the Tzedakah, unlike philanthropy, is a must performed regardless of financial standing and must be performed even by the poor. The tzedakah is considered to be one of the three main acts in Judaism.
